I've read recently that to generalize (which is dangerous) researchers have found that girls love simulation games, while boys like games with a set story track that involve shooting things. This is certainly true with my 9-year old daughter. She just loves "SimAnimals." (Let me emphasize that I am one of those modern dads whose mantra for his daughter is "girls can do anything boys can do.")

In Sims Animals, you attract animals to your forest by growing trees, raining on flowers, and nurturing them. I am dumbfounded by how much my daughter enjoys doing this. She has even "re-played" the game from start to finish, which I've never seen her do with any other DS game. I start to play with her and I just think "what a pain in the neck to balance all these tasks - give me something to shoot so I can move on." Maybe it's also true what researchers say: in general, women are better multi-taskers and men can concentrate on one thing better.

The game is slightly educational, but it's mainly an interesting pastime. I'm an adult boy and I couldn't get into it at all, but I love watching her enjoy this game. When a new animal comes to live into her forest, she always shares the happy news with me. Where To Buy Rollercoaster Tycoon 3

Take my advice; don't buy this game no matter how interesting and exciting it sounds. I was a fan of the "Roller Coaster Tycoon" series, and I read up on "Roller Coaster Tycoon 3" and it sounded pretty interesting. However, I soon found out that it wasn't nearly as good as the originals. While there are some good features, which I'll point out, they cannot save this game.

The Good Features

There are more rides to choose from then the original games and you can also have robotic scenery, which is much more complicated then in the originals. Another neat feature is that you can ride the roller coasters, as well are practically any other ride. Food stands allow you to decide what toppings-and how much of them-go on the food. Also, you can make more intense roller coasters then in the earlier predecessors without them being rated ultra-extreme.

The Bad Features

The bad features; first of all the graphics. I actually don't like the new 3-D style graphics-the trees were ugly and the edges of everything were sharp and squared. I didn't like the design for the guests in this game either. Also it was extremely difficult to have any flow to the park; the guests seemed to only populate one area of the paths, leaving the rest almost empty. It was just missing something that made the original "Roller Coaster Tycoons" great games. However, at the same time, this game sort of ruined the first ones for me, because it provided lots of options that obviously weren't in the first ones. Yet this game isn't very fun, and it's been sitting on the shelf unused for quite a long time.

If you like the original "Roller Coasters Tycoons," then take my word for it; don't buy this one. It will leave you disappointed and dissatisfied. While the original one may not have as "sophisticated" graphics, it is much more fun to play.

I have a private pilots license in which I spend almost all of my time flying the 4 seat Cessna 172. The game is fairly realistic in terms of all the options you can set including weather and plane confirguations. I would highly recommend if you plan on just flying for fun, whether you are a real pilot or not.

However, if you are planning on practicing to obtain your instrument pilot license, there are better products out there. With the precision needed on an instrument flights, this simulator becomes difficult as it more or less floats to a turned direction but is not very easy to make minor heading corrections. In addition, the key instruments are fairly small and hard to read. That said, a better software for real pilots to get instrument rated is to go with the IP Trainer 7 software. For around $80 found online, you'll get the software and instrument text book. The DS verison of COD:MW is pretty good for a portable FPS but it just isn't as satisfying as the console versions. It controled OK but my hands get tired after a while. One control problem that plauged me was you are supposed to double tap the screen to look down the barrell of the gun or scope and I kept doing that on accident, meaning I kept zooming in and out while moving around. I preordered this game a couple weeks ago and it got delivered to my house yesterday (the day it came out)and I played it a little bit. In the game you play the teacher named April who has a total of six students. The reason why they called this game Imagine Teacher Class Trip is because April and her students are on a trip at a vacation center. During the game you get to teach the class in the morning and do fun activities in the afternoons.
While in the class you get to teach the students, test their skills, and correct the papers(sort of the same in the regular Imagine Teacher game) and in the afternoons April's class gets to compete in different activities against the three other classes that are also at the vacation center. The activities include: running, climbing, fishing, signing, etc. The teams also collect flags and when you reach a certain amount in each of the activities it says you get a trophy. During the activities the teams also collect pieces of a treasure map and when the collect all seven pieces they could find the treasure ( I didn't get that far yet since I just got the game. Overall I think this is an interesting game. I brought this game because I'm trying to finish up studying to hopefully become a teacher of young kids and this game should give me a little bit of practice.

I got Imagine Makeup Artist when I saw it at a store, thinking I'd enjoy it a lot because of the sheer cuteness of the style. And I was right!

At the beginning of the game, you're asked to choose the type of girl you want to be from three choices, but it doesn't really matter, because later on you'll be able to buy new hairstyles and outfits for your character.

The one thing is, it can get a little bit tedious scrolling through the game's large amounts of dialogue, especially the makeup lessons and tests. But the good thing about it is that the game controls are very easy to grasp quickly. You just use your stylus to apply mascara, eyeshadow, lipstick and so on.

I also enjoyed the fact that your character can hang out and go on dates with the three male characters in the game, who you can encounter by going to different spots around the town. If you go on enough dates, the boy's like of you will increase.

Image Makeup Artist certainly isn't for everyone. There are long spaces of dialogue, tough requests and the game is relatively short, since each month you are at Makeup Manor is divided into two section with a Weekend feature in between. (For example the game goes from Early September, to a Weekend, to Late September.) Its graphics are cute and relatively well-done, but at times the game is a bit repetitive because a lot of the requests are similar or the same. At times, it has minor glitches - if you click on one request, the request won't load and you'll have to turn off the game. Both my son and I love ben 10. we also love video games.
The other ben 10 video games were fun and the story was interesting. The game play was also fun for what kind of games they were.
This game however, is horrible.
The story may be interesting but I have not been able to get too far in it. The character controls are terrible. I spend more time trying to recenter the character on the screen because otherwise you cannot see what is going on or who is attacking you. Things like a metal walkway that you need to cross should be simple but since you need to recenter the view, you often fall off in die...over and over again.
The game gives you direction when its obvious what to do, but when you could actually use a tip, good luck.
The game is ultimately a frustrating waste of time. I pre-ordered expecting a deal and the price never even went down after i received it.
If you must buy this game, wait for it to be in the bargain racks for $20 or less. It will be.
Just in case any of the game designers read this....Really? are you proud of this?
To be fair, maybe the game gets better. I am probably not even a third of the way through amd I have no interest in finishing. I just don't find the game any fun. But sadly enough, this is my kind of game and its a shame that the game is just this bad.

OK to update...now that my son has finished the game. If you ask him, he would say it was a good game, although he needed a lot of help to get through many sections. I'd like to start off by saying that my 4 year old son is a huge Ben 10 fan and does enjoy the game and that is the only reason i won't be sending it back.

Game play is basically the same as in the first Ben 10 game, you unlock more aliens and moves as you progress through the story line. This game has a more 3d look that the first Ben 10 game that had more of a cartoon feel.

Pros:
-The ability to attack by moving and waving the wiimote and nunchuck is great for younger kids who won't be able to do the button combinations for all the moves.
-Actual voices from the show, lots of video scenes to watch
-Ben 10 fans (kids) probably won't notice the huge game play issues.

Cons:
-The biggest problem is that the game is just horribly buggy. Especially in 2 player mode. Camera tracking is bad, interaction between objects is poor (can fall through floors, float in the air on nothing, die and come back over open pits and just die in a loop) When my son and I play I will join in to get past some harder areas and with the bugs in game play you simply can't complete the game in 2 player mode all the way through.
-Compared to the first Ben 10 game, it seems like it is way too short and just ends in the middle of the story line.
-Level selection is just a text list and is missing the map feature of the first game.

Conclusion:

I have had this product for about a month.

THE GOOD:

The LCD screen is bright and nice and has a good quality of video to look at.
The keyboard is nice to type on and the keyboard colors are customizable.
Very easy to play songs using the keyboard while you are in a game.
With some software updates it is almost like having a second monitor.

THE BAD:

Around the same price you can get a 9" Touchscreen USB monitor from MIMO and that uses up no extra plug.
The software if I want to go on youtube I do not want to watch the videos they are offering me.
Using a plug I know there had to be a way around this. The screen is the locked position.
If the screen goes out or the keyboard stops typing you are out of two things instead of one when you send it out.

It is a good concept and is working well but they need more product support this is good for gaming but not for the premium price. I have tried to use this with my MS Combat sim 3 but I have not been able to get the programming of the toe breaks to work. The toe breaks seems to use the same signal as one aileron and one direction of the horizontal stabilizer. If I hit one of the toe breaks during flight I crash. Where To Buy Mortal Kombat Unchained

I don't expect another one better to be released in a long time, since this is authentically Midway's. When I ordered it, I had my doubts after seeing a string of previews on youtube; the graphics were questionable. Now that I've played an hour or so with various characters and a try arcade style with Kitana, I can say you can't really make a Mortal Kombat game better on the PSP than this. And what a surprise it would be to find one that is!

Unlike Deadly Alliance that I had for the original Xbox, you don't have to unlock characters. All of them are available, including Goro and several others. I've read that this is basically the game Deception made portable with some extras. I have only played this PSP version and the graphics are both as smooth and realistic as 3d gets for now.

The game starts with a significant video of a battle that starts the story's continuation from previous games. It's a video not to be missed, and I'd bet that you can only find the true quality in the game and not through online posted videos.

I'm willing to say that this version beats the PS2 and Xbox versions simply for being equal in graphic effects and being portable at the same time.

I found it difficult to open a profile in Deadly Alliance, but this newer version isn't difficult at all. It lets you select your own code, such as all the same button, so you don't have to memorize a unique scrambled one such as in DA.

For anyone who used to play MK games, then this will come as a nice addition, probably one that gets the most gameplay since we're old enough now to have become casual gamers. The original Xbox introduced a new playing field for gamers, and opened gaming to a broader audience. Fighting games were one genre taken to a new level at that time, along with the PS2 and Gamecube, and it shows here with this particular game as well. Forget the naysayers and get this before it's no longer in production, because it's sure to be a great game for much much longer than games of the previous decade or two (80s/90s). I really do like this game BUT... the fact that your time is limited when it comes to quests in the game is REALLY ANNOYING. When I first puchased the game (on release date), I thought that it was a free roaming type. I thought that I can just go around and take my time with quests while killing zombies, but NO!! I finished the game and overtime- after dying about a million times. I do like the fact that if you start another game, you start out at the same level as a previous game. Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy Best Quality

My son got this game and I was expecting to have to buy a separate smaller memory stick just for this game to save on, however we were both pleasantly surprised that it saved just fine on his 4gb memory stick. His MS card is pretty full (less than 1gb free space) so possibly it works fine as long as the available space is less than 1gb or they have patched this game when they released as part of the greatest hits collection. Some of you who have problems getting it to save on large memory sticks might try putting some music or movies on the card to decrease the free space on it and see if then it will save. Xbox 360 Component HD AV Cable Buy Now

This is a HEADS UP to all people that will be buying the new Xbox that comes with the 250GB hard drive.

I bought my son the MW2 XBox (bundle)for Christmas (but 'we' couldn't wait and is up and running now). When we opened the box I noticed that the cable that came with this $400.00 bundle was just a VGA cable. Microsoft is no longer packaging their systems with the duel cable that came with the older XBox 360 Live (Pro/Elite NOT Arcade).

A Microsoft representative told me that they were getting "in line" with PS3 and just offering the standard cable connection so everybody can enjoy it right out of the box. This makes no sense since the "older" cable had both connections on them (HD/AV and VGA). But this is Microsoft we're talking about... so what else is new.

Because of this I used the cable from his "old" Xbox so we didn't have a problem. I just need another one of these cables so I can hook-up my son's "old" 120GB XBox Live to another HDTV in our house.

Anyway... The whole point of this review is to let you know that if you have bought the new Modern Warfare 2 XBox with the 250GB HD for Christmas and haven't opened it up yet be advised you will need to buy this AV cable (or an HDMI cable if your HDTV supports that type of connection) if you want to be able to play in High Definition.

Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon Decide Now

So I bought this game quite some time ago and I already beat it, however, I haven't had the time to make a review until now.

Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon plays like every Fire Emblem game out there and that's what's great about this game. I personally love the Fire Emblem series and this game was no different for me.

The gameplay is pretty simple, the graphics are awesome, the soudntrack was decent, and the replayability of this game is quite high.

Although I found this game a little short it was quite fun.
There were only some minor details that I didn't like, for example, Marth's level caps at 30 and he can't even change classes or upgrade to a stronger class like most other characters. Secondly, I've never liked the idea of not getting any of your characters back that have died in battle. Although it makes battles a little more interesting I find it tedious to nearly finish a level then having a good character of yours die in battle and having to restart the level completely. It didn't happen often but when it did it made you want to blow your brains out.

This game moves a little too fast to select appropriate color (each color has different properties) and draw ahead of the character, and the character keeps moving unless you draw an obstacle with the right color at the right time. Then the screen stays with the character so that drawing something where you need a ramp or bridge is difficult. Too often, the color selection tool in the lower left corner of the screen prevents drawing in desired location. It would be better in upper left corner, perhaps. Frustrating even for me. Cheapest Jurassic: The Hunted

We need more games like this. The storyline is simple but cool, the voice acting is passable, the graphics are great, the controls are so cool using the gun controllers and the gameplay is well done. The dino's are very cool and the atmosphere is well done giving you a "what if I was lost in jurassic park" feeling, very creepy and on edge greatness. This game is really fun and a must have if ur a DBZ fan. lets just put it like this, Vegeta has like 15 different Ki attack animations. So it isnt boring and there is a ton of characters who all interact with each other how they should. So when trunks is fighting vegeta they say stuff that they would say to each other.
